Grating depth is only half of the clip selection process. The other half is the structural flange thickness where the lower jaw will engage. If the jaw opening is too small, the clip will not seat correctly. If the wrong jaw family is selected, the job can lose time before installation even begins.

The GFX-GG line is organized around two jaw families. GFX-GG-1 clips are for flange up to 21/32 inch. GFX-GG-2 clips are for flange over 21/32 inch and up to 1-11/32 inches. The number tells you the jaw family, while the letter tells you the grating depth.

Measure where the clip will actually install

Field conditions can vary across the same platform. Measure the flange at the planned fastener location, not only from a drawing or a nearby beam. Coatings, edge wear, galvanizing, paint buildup, and surface irregularities can affect the clearance available for the jaw.

If the flange is near the transition between the two jaw families, confirm the measurement carefully. A small measurement error around 21/32 inch can change the selection from a GFX-GG-1 part to a GFX-GG-2 part.

Match flange thickness to jaw family

Measured flange rangeJaw familyExample for 1-1/2" grating
Up to 21/32"GFX-GG-1GFX-GG-1C
Over 21/32" up to 1-11/32"GFX-GG-2GFX-GG-2C

The same logic applies across the stocked depth letters. For example, GFX-GG-1E and GFX-GG-2E both correspond to 2-inch grating depth, but they are not interchangeable because the jaw openings are different.

Do not use depth alone

Ordering only by grating depth is a common mistake. A buyer may know the grating is 1-1/2 inches deep and assume every 1-1/2-inch clip is equivalent. The flange range still has to be confirmed. That is why the GFX-GG part number includes both a number and a letter.

The Anchor Point Hardware selector asks for grating depth and flange range because both details are required to make a useful recommendation. The resulting SKU can then be added to an inquiry along with quantity, ship-to location, and target delivery date.

When to contact sales before ordering

Contact sales before submitting a quote request if the grating spacing is uncertain, the flange is outside the listed ranges, the installation has unusual obstructions, or the project requires a specific material callout. Include photos, field measurements, and the quantity needed so the team can respond with current price and lead time.

Anchor Point Hardware stocks large quantities of the current GFX-GG sizes in Palm City, Florida for 19-space steel bar grating. The fastest inquiry includes the SKU, quantity, job location, and any special documentation requirements.
