Most grating fastener ordering problems start before the purchase order is issued. A buyer may have an old part number, a partial drawing, or a field note that lists only grating depth. That information can be useful, but it is not always enough to select the correct GFX-GG clip.

Anchor Point Hardware keeps the inquiry process simple, but the best quote requests still include the measurements that determine fit: grating spacing, grating depth, structural flange thickness, and quantity.

Mistake 1: Assuming the grating is 19-space

The current GFX-GG clips listed on this website are for 19-space steel bar grating only. If the spacing is not confirmed, do not guess. Measure the installed grating or ask the site team for confirmation before building the inquiry.

Using a clip on the wrong grating configuration can affect how the top plate seats and how the lower jaw reaches the support. Start by confirming compatibility, then move to depth and flange measurements.

Mistake 2: Ordering by depth but not flange thickness

Depth determines the letter in the SKU, but flange thickness determines the jaw family. For example, both GFX-GG-1F and GFX-GG-2F are associated with 2-1/4-inch grating depth. The difference is the flange range they are intended to clear.

GFX-GG-1 is for flange up to 21/32 inch. GFX-GG-2 is for flange over 21/32 inch and up to 1-11/32 inches. Measure the flange at the actual clip location before selecting between the two.

Mistake 3: Using an old description instead of a current SKU

Terms like G-clips, grating anchors, grating clips, and grating fasteners are useful search terms, but they are not always enough for purchasing. Use the current product stock chart to confirm the exact GFX-GG SKU you need.

If a maintenance note says "1-1/2 inch grating clip," convert that into the right part number by confirming the flange range. The result may be GFX-GG-1C or GFX-GG-2C.

Mistake 4: Requesting price without quantity or ship-to details

Lead time and freight planning depend on quantity and destination. A strong inquiry includes the SKU list, quantities, ship-to city and state, target delivery date, and any special packaging or documentation needs.

The website's inquiry builder helps assemble this information in an email to sales@anchorpointhardware.com. You can add multiple SKUs, edit quantities, and review the generated message before sending.

Best practice: use the two-question selector

If you are not sure which clip to request, start with the two-question selector. Choose the 19-space grating depth, choose the measured flange range, and let the recommendation identify the matching current SKU. That simple workflow prevents most ordering mistakes before they reach the quote stage.
